Day One

Taiwan... words really can't describe the experience of arriving in this small island of a country. Like hitting a brick a brick wall I have been jolted in remembering that having any preconceived notions of a place or people is a bad idea. I really thought Taiwan would be like a very small and free version of China with a little spice of Japan thrown in the mix, but boy was I ever wrong.

People Watching

One of my favorite pass times is people watching and imagining what kind of adventures each person has been on.The people they have met and the places they will go. Every person has so much to tell. Through little observations I make up a life story for each person based on simple things like the slightly scuffed black business shoes, the blue camping bag and slate grey rock-climbing helmet, or the tattered yellow book firmly griped between wrinkled fingers. How accurate would it be I wonder?

The Beginning

Time, it comes and goes with a changing flow. Some times fast some times slow, but forward it always goes. The heart beat of adventure, the pulse of life. What we do with time is up to us, a million choices to become something or just settle in the dust. Moments to create and discover do not always come filled with speed and exclamations of excitement, more often then not they come in listening to my heart, in slowing things down and listening to time itself. Finding its pulse, going with its ebbs and tides following its lead, like the ocean follows the moon. Letting time teach me its eternal lessons. Disconnecting from the drama of the world and reconnecting with life. Letting my brain connect with all of the sub-serious and the coalition of syncretic thought. Letting the macro turn into micro and lay in the warm sands of deep though and listen.
